Issues with FC4 on Compaq presario 2100

Hi there

I just set up FC4 on my Home laptop which is a Presario 2100US. I liked it so much (vs. SUSE10, Ubuntu, Knoppix) I also installed on my corporate laptop for Nessus and nmap.

However, I have a few problems with the 2100's compatibility. Can anyone give guidance or a link to some help on getting
A) The WiFi Button to do something - on the front of the laptop is a button that toggles WiFi on/off in windows. If i could somehow find out how this button is trapped, i could write a sh script for ifconfig up/down but i dont know how to trap it.

B) APM - This Laptop has no ACPI so i need apm configuration. I want the power to work jsut like windows - long battery life, Suspend to ram on lid close, hibernate To HD..

C) Wine? I cant make it work well at all.. Is there a good guide/article for FC4+wine?

I'm using a Compaq Presario 1720US
I've got a similar problem - No hibernate. My battery status is fine on GNOME, though. And my Volume Up, down buttons have finally started to work. You have to assign them on Gnome, with System-> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts
They do get detected.

As far as wine is concerned, the best I'm sure they can do is, emulate any Windows software low on graphics. Hopefully, soon, they'll get their Direct X -> OpenGL conversion smoothened out, and then it'll rock. I'm still waiting for that to happen.

Do tell me if you manage to get ur CD play/pause, next, previous buttons, or any of our special function keys working(other than brightness).
