PC Freezes after minutes of use

Okay, I recently insalled Fedora Core 4. FC4 is on my first hard drive a 40GB Western Digital. I also have three other hard drives one has Windows and the other two are for storage of files.

Anyways, after starting FC4 as my normal user or root account it just freezes. At first I thought it just happened when I ran YUM, but it happened just when I wanted to do some simple web surfing, to post this actually. (I am in windows now).

Does anyone one know what could cause this. If more information is needed I will be more than happy to provide it.

By the way, Windows has been, surprisingly, uneventful. I have been in my current Windows sessions for about 5 hours now.

I had some freezing at one point after using yum to update my system. I used to type Ctrl+Alt+F2 to enter console mode and then type Ctrl+Alt+F7 to go back to window mode. It worked everytime. I think it was a problem with a power management setting. Interestingly I followed the directions to update FC4 to Gnome 2.12 and ever since it no longer freezes the window manager. You could try following the instructions for upgrading Gnome 2.12.
