modem usb or isdn card... not working

hi,

I have a usb modem and I do not suceed at configuring it. With kppp I selected all devices from the list and none of them worked when I chose "ask the modem".. either was not found or was "engaged" or not able to open... Nevertheless, I know fedora finds the modem because it in on the list. How can I solve this? Thanks.

another question regarding an isdn card... I have one of them (intern), Fritz!, but I don't know whether I can use this card as a mere modem... Do I need any other extra tool than the normal phone connection?

first issue: see this url: http://www.linux-usb.org/USB-guide/x332.html or search for Linux USB Modem Support on google

second issue: use the ISDN tool included with the distro to get it recognized. However, you do know that you need a ISDN telco line to use it. Also note that it will be very expensive if you download anything as the telco charges by the bit not by the minute.
