issues with Audigy 2 ZS 'line in' (FC3)

Hi, I have been using FC3 for some time, and just cannot figure this out. The problem is that my line in is showing up as a playback source and not a capture source. (when I run alsamixer there is an entry for line, line2 and line2 capture, but line2 is the jack on the front, I need to plug in at the back) In windows I use line in to get sound from my tv capture card and it works great, but the only way I can get audio in linux is by feeding it through my mic jack... This means that the audio gets distorted. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

(also, I keep reading that you can switch recording sources in alsamixer by pressing space, but when I try this there is no graphical feedback to let me know what those sources are! Am I missing something?)

Thanks.
