Exclamation How to read the dvd-drive from linux in text mode?

Hi ,

I just installed Linux in text mode and I would like to know when I load in root mode, how to see the directory of cd-rom or dvd drive?

Because I need to install a software from the dvd-drive with tar.

Thank you

mount /media/dvd or cdrom or cdrecorder (check the media directory to see the name)
should mount the drive
then ll or ls to list contents

Hey thats not working at all your tips. I tried to access my dvd-drive and its not possible with mount/media/dvd or cd.

But I know he installed the atapi driver because I can see it when he load the linux in text mode and not in graphical mode.

So how to see the data of my dvd-rom?

I have also another question, I already have the cd1 of red hat 9 but where can I download for free the cd-2 and others?

Best regards,

Dimnet

Did you see the /media directory to find the right mount point as sailor suggested? What's the output from "ls /media"? Is the drive listed in /etc/fstab?

OK I just revised the two tips you gave me and I applied that and both not working.

ls media see nothing

and ls /etc/fstab can read the dir but the directory is empty.

But the atapi drive for sony cd-rom drive is intalled , I just checked when he loaded Linux.

I know that the media device is hda

I begin to be tired of that ****.

Please help me! Do you know somebody in Quebec city who can help me to fix it?
