Kde 3.5 Beta 1

I did something which is probally really stupid. I went to the fedora development site and downloaded Kde 3.5 beta 1. (all the kde 3.4.91 stuff) And kde quit working. Not even Konqueror would launch from Gnome. Kde itself just crashes on startup.

Did anyone out there get this working ?

question: how could you satisfy all dependencies? Did you make a major update or only the kde stuff?

To get this installed I had to download a boatload of other stuff as well, not just kde.

I REALLY hate reinstalling my os. You must be either brave, or you just haven't reinstalled enough.

I am in the process of going back to KDE 3.4.2 right now. You should have seen the mess Gnome 2.12 made of things. Kde 3.5 was easy to get rid of with just rpm -e --nodeps

I was referring to trying out a Beta1 on something as vital as a desktop environment.

You might want to consider (after you fix your system) getting another pc to use as your test box just for trying things like that.

No need for another system, if you compile from source you can install it in a users home directory. Don't know if this is possible with rpms (maybe srpms?) too.

Btw. kde 3.5 beta 1 is very nice

Well mates, there were some new rpm posts for Kde 3.5 and now it seems to work. Although the SDK is missing something from the KDELIBS that it needs. Something called libkunittest.so.0. A google search says this is in the beta 2 release of kdelibs.
