Problem with starting X on 8355 clone

Hi.
I've recently bought a Novatech Crossfire (I believe it's a Mitac 8355 clone) and tried to install FC4 on it. All the text stuff appears OK (during boot) then X starts OK as the external; monitor works fine but the LCD is dead. I get the following warning in /var/log/Xorg.0.log
"(WW) RADEON(0): config file hsync range 31.5 - 90Khz not within DDc hsync ranges"
There's then a load of stuff about different display modes and how "vfresh is out of range" and "bad mode clock/interlace/doublescan".
I've mailed Novatech several times to ask if they can supply HorizSync and VertRefresh values for /etc/X11/xorg.conf but they haven't replied. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the problem. I'd be pulling my hair out (if I had any left)
The display: 15" 1400x1050 XGA/SVGA+ TFT
Card: Radeon Mobility 9600 M10
Thanks,
Shane
