New Webcam

I'm looking for a webcam that'll work under Linux (FC4). I was looking at the Logitech QuickCam STX , but I haven't found much info on whether or not works with FC4. I want an sub $50 webcam that's got good video.

Or is there a way to get my Intel CS430 webcam working? I found this but I get the following error:

Quote:
Compiling drivers/usb/jpegdecoder.c
drivers/usb/jpegdecoder.c:18:26: error: linux/string.h: No such file or directory
drivers/usb/jpegdecoder.c: In function ‘decode_mcus’:
drivers/usb/jpegdecoder.c:231: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘memset’
drivers/usb/jpegdecoder.c:231: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘memset’
make: *** [drivers/usb/jpegdecoder.o] Error 1

most philips webcams work with the new pwc v10 driver (not the old pwcx driver that's been removed from the kernel, and don't use the pwc v9 one that comes in the fc4 kernel).

i have used the pcvc680k, 690k and just got the excellent 840k (great in low light!) under rh9, fc3 and fc4 (win 2k/xp too).

google for a program called 'motion' - it also has a howto for getting cameras working with the pwc driver.

i also use palantir for streaming to a web page, it also works under gnomemeeting (it's basically a video4linux2 device).
