Problem setting up Thompson,(Alcatel) speedtouch 530 ethernet modem.

I'm trying to get Fedora core 4 on the internet via my Thompson Speedtouch 530 Ethernet modem but it isn't detected by my system. This modem is working fine and I'm running it on windows xp without a problem.............. on the same puter........... on the same ethernet card. For some reason, Fedora keeps telling me that it can't find the modem.
