MSI K8N Neo2-F (NForce 3 Ultra chipset)
When I first installed XP on this system, the MAC was not being detected - so it took changing that and rebooting the modem to get things a'working. With FC4, even after I specify the correct MAC and attempt to use what I think is the correct DHCP for connection info, that doesn't work. I can't even activate it (which I *can* do if I use the ipconfig output in XP to specify what's what in FC4 - but that doesn't work, either.)
Now, I was poking around here, and someone suggested adding acpi=ht to the kernel line in grub.conf to get this going. I have no idea what that does seeing as how I'm a linux noobie trying to learn his way around things, but add it I did - and now I'm freezing at boot at "Determining IP information ... ."
So, two things:
- How might I go about getting this network connection to work?
- How can I fix my grub screwup?
Thanks.
