kickstart install -how to pause it before prompts?

I'm installing on machines over a network using a kickstart file on a ftp server machine. The kickstart file's post install configuration section uses some scp commands that require that I enter the root password. If I miss the prompts in this section by a few seconds, the installation proceeds and those commands are not done. Is there a way to modify the kickstart file so that it will print a prompt and wait (forever!) until I enter something simple (like 'y') before it begins the scp?

kickstart installs are supposed to be completely automated.

Any way you could put these files on http or ftp and use wget or something?

As far as I know, the files could be copied to the local machine by ftp or http and then copied by an ordinary cp to their destination. I'm not a kickstart file expert. Someone else wrote the kickstart file. It looks to me like the post install section has ordinary shell commands. (I don't understand why entering the password once works for several lines that use scp commands, yet it does.) But would I avoid having to enter a password if I use ftp?

A very simple method works, put
input myReply
before the scp command and the script will wait for me to press Enter before continuing. There are echo commands in the script, but I don't see any output from them. Some printing comes out on the console one gets by CTRL_ALT_F1. But in the post configure section, echo has no effect.
