Red face Request for help: WLAN not working on FC3 Intersil PRISM2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600

Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 (aka a cinder block) running Fedora Core 3. It contains an onboard wired ethernet card at eth0, which works. It also contains an onboard wireless card at eth1 which does not work. It used to work. I run yum update indiscriminately (kernel and all) and I am not sure if one of these updates broke it, or it is a hardware failure. (Or... other. )

When I initially installed FC3 on this machine, it took some doing to get wireless to work, and I ended up getting some help from someone at work who found an interrupt conflict. I am also wondering if an update reverted what he did. Unfortunately, I don't know what he did, or I would include that. I'd rather not bother him again with this mess as he is prohibitively busy.

So, below you'll find the kernel version (2.6.12-1.1376_FC3), and more. I was going to include dmesg here but it's too long so I will have to add it to this thread in the next post. The card was initially working in the Network Configuration Tool as an Intersil PRISM2.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can give into this problem.

Caitlin

Could anyone tell me how I can rule out hardware conflicts? I'd like to move the Wireless card to a different IRQ and try that, but I don't know how.

Still no dice. I've tried some of the command listed in similar threads, but with no relief. I particularly tried this:
http://www.deepblue.uk.net/fortopic107.html

I get the error below on startup and network restart. Any advice would be appreciated.

[root@compy sbin]# service network restart
Shutting down interface eth0: [ OK ]
Shutting down loopback interface: [ OK ]
Setting network parameters: [ OK ]
Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth0: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth1:
