Question Java SDK 1.4.2 FC4

Hello there...
does anybody know whether there are the same problems with the SDK 1.4.2 from SUN as they are mentioned in the FC4 release notes ?
Quote:
"Fedora Core 4 users are advised not to use the Java RPM provided by Sun. It contains Provides that conflict with names used in packages provided as part of Fedora Core 4."
And is there a howto for installing 1.4.2 or does it work like on FC3 ??

Thanks a lot...

As far as I know, Sun's 1.4.2 still conflicts.

This shows how to make 1.5 play nice with gcj.

As far as I know there is a good SDK from IBM aswell. Anybody who has experience with that one installing under FC4 ?

I think.

You see SUN web site. (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html)
choice link item Download J2SE SDK
choice Radiobutton (0)Accept License Agreement
choice file for linux (for me) RPM in self-extracting file (j2sdk-1_4_2_09-linux-i586-rpm.bin)
download file *.rpm

install into FC4 by #rpm -ivh *.rpm
-> use java

This article seems to indicate the current best practice for Java stuff in FC4.

Question IBM JAVA 2 Developer Kit

Hi there...

I have just downloaded the Java Developers Kit from IBM, which is said to be "faster" than the one from SUN and a friend of mine, who is the java-expert, recommanded this one.
You can find it here .

The provided .rpm-File runs trough and would install the DK under
/opt/IBMJava2-142

And here is the question:
How and where do I set the softlinks to make FC4 use this DK ?

thanks a lot
