RESOLVED: System hangs at hostname set; USB was at fault [V]

i have installed fedora core 1
i had to install with the nousb switch
but now on boot up the system hangs at the "setting the host name" screen
and then locks and my only option is to reboot

Help

sytem
AMd 2200xp
512 ram
Nvidia Fx 5200
120 hard
nec DVD writer 1100a
on a network with linksys wireless router for broadband connection, mine is cable connection

Hi sapper,

At the grub boot screen, try hitting "E" to edit your boot arguments, and append the nousb kernel argument.

It'll look something like this once you're done:
[code:1]kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-28.9 ro root=LABEL=/ nousb
[/code:1]

I believe after you're done doing that, you hit "B" or enter (I don't have it in front of me) to boot.

Hope that helps.

(If that boots fine, you need to find out if your USB chipset is supported and/or why it's causing problems)

many thanks - your a star

i actually disabled usb, sytem started and fininshed install

i then enabled usb, on boot it detected new hardware, installed all that was needed and now works fine

so i know have a linux system, now i just need to figure out what to do with it !!
