Trash problems on Nautilus 2.12 ...

Hi,

Last week I have upgraded from Gnome 2.10 to 2.12 by recompiling the packages in Fedora development repository. The compilation order was the something between the one given for Gnome site (2.8) and the one on Linux From Scratch site.

Now I have a little problem. If I try to delete an item, Nautilus moves it in the trash folder (which is computed with gnomevfs algorithm) but the Empty trash menu does not activate. Furthermore, when typing trash: in the location bar (I have activated it with gconf-editor), the right panel is completely empty despite the fact there are files in the folder that is supposed to be the Trash can (I checked with ls).

Somehow, I believe the cause may be the Trash can monitor, but I am not sure. Can anyone tell me what should I change in order to solve the problem? Eel? Nautilus?

Regards,
Alex.

P.S. for those asking for experiences with firefox 1.0.6 not displaying any text, yes, I have experienced that too!

Hi all,

I got the same problem. Gnome 2.12 fully working except for the trash: when I delete something from my auxiliary FAT32 partition Gnome moves it to the trash dir (.Trash-username) on that part. but the trashbin icon on my desktop remains empty. For other partitions, usb disks, mp3 players etc it works correctly.

Is this a bug or is my config's fault?

Thank you all guys.
Regards,
Federico

I did a workaround for the Desktop Trash Icon not working problem by creating a link using Create Launcher to the ~.Trash folder. Now I can pull things out of the the trash the same as before. It of course does not operate exactly the same as the Gnome Trash Icon because there is no Empty Trash menu option when right clicking it, but nevertheless you can still empty that folder by highlighing everything and then deleting it. Nomally using the Delete key to delete a file from a normal folder would put it in the trash, but because you are deleting directly from the Trash folder itself, you can use the Delete button and the trash is cleared completely.

PS. I also hid the old non-working Trash Icon from the Desktop using Configuration Editor
by going to: apps - nautilus - desktop - trash_icon_visible and unchecked the box.

Yes, the last update fixed it, but since that update, automount doesn't work for my USB stick. It is recognized by Fedora, 'cause its displayed in "Computer" but when I want to mount it, it says the stick doesn't have entry in fstab...so there must be some issue with automount, that doesn't create appropriate mount point and fstab entry...Have anyone of you experienced this issue?
