need help to verify fc4 iso file

Can anybody who has fedora core 4 iso file help me?

I need the numbers of sectors of every downloaded fedora 4 iso file (4 iso files), because I have all 4 CDs got from a friend, but I want to build the iso file again using ISO Buster, just to verify that the sha1sum will match.

I have tried this way with other distro, and it worked (returned same sha1sum), as long as the amounts of sectors that was build to iso exactly same as the sectors from the original iso files.
I can't use entire sectors available on my CD, cause some CD burner drive/software usually add some sectors into the CD in burning process. This cause the sha1sum won't match the original one.

I've used linux mediacheck, and it reported that my either my media or the file inside it has an error. But I knew from some forums that it may be a "fake" error message on some system.

To determine the amount of sectors of the iso files is easy, just open it using ISO Buster, and point the mouse over the session, and the statusbar will show the amounts of sectors (sector 00 - 32xxx, Length : 32xxx).

Thanks.

The sha1sum comes from the files inside the iso file and not from the no. of sectors (though that should match).

Using the sha1sum directly as explained on the download page is easier, in my opinion. There's a SHA1SUM file with the expected values on the mirror.

thanks Jman, I already have the checksums, but what I mean is I want to rebuild iso file from my existing fedora core 4 CDs. To do that I need the amount of sectors inside original ISO files, so I can rebuild ISO file based on my CD and then compare their sha1 checksum to the checksums in the original release, because I don't have the original ISO files.

I need to rebuild iso files because I want to mount them so I can view or install software without using the CDs.

You have CD media but no isos? And you want isos to mount and use?

If you needed more CDs I would recommend just copying them with burning softare.

For getting isos, you probably could do a low level copy, like
Code:
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=~/FC4-i386-disc1.iso
You'd have to verify these as I'm not sure it will work.
