Problems to watch DVD in Linux

Hey people,

I'm having problems to watch DVDs in Linux...
The problem is : when I rip some movie in DVD using DVDShrink (by wine) and burn using K3b and try to watch Iget this error... BUT when I try to watch some movei that I burned in Windows I don't get errors. If I try to watch directly from folders in my HD I don't get errors...

PS: this DVDs burned in Linux working correctly in my DVD player or Windows PC.

Below you can see my permissions and errors...

Does a standard store-bought DVD movie play fine in Linux? Or does it have errors also?

Hey stmiller,

All those DVDs are correctly burned... Similar to original movies...
Yesterday I tried something...

I tried to mount it in another folder (diferent to /media/cdrecorder).
It worked and play DVD normally... I mounted in /media/dvd.
I don't know what happen to don't play in original folder mounted using /fstab.
It worked because I mounted manually.

As far s I know, you don't need to mount a DVD movie or VCD movie disc in order to watch it. You just have to specify the device like /dev/dvd or /dev/hdc in xine to play it. Am I wrong ?

Well, I don't mount it because it mounted by automount in fc4.

I'm surprise because if I burn the movie in Windows, I can watch it normally in Linux BUT when I burn the same DVD in Linux I can't watch it... It's very strange...

I'm thinking this error is because something in automount or in fstab... Or permissions.

Could be a problem with K3b. You could try dvdstyler from http://dvdstyler.sourceforge.net/
