manual fsck of an LVM

Id like to run fsck on my lvm> ext3, swap.. well the ext3 root in my lvm how would i go about doing this.. i know how to fsck my plain ext3 boot .. but if i boot from rescue disc and do fsck of my lvm /dev/sda3 i get 'no superblock' and i cant do fsck of /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 (ext3 lvm) because it doesnt exist if i boot to rescue and choose not to mount fedora

actually never mind .. i thougt ive tried before to switch to do init 1 then doing fsck but i always got "/ busy" cannot umount... but i got fsck to work (by umounting / and /boot) by "a" appending grub and adding init 1.. i could then unmount / and /boot and thus do fsck -f -p
