FC4 system config python scripts broken

I yum-mmed a bunch of python stuff, the goal was to get tkinter and numeric, but it broke everything! Now none of the FC4 system pythons scripts run!!
before I ran yum, the python path was /usr/lib64/* now it /usr/local/lib/*

yum won't run and I'm getting this error:
ImportError: /usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cElementTree.so: undefined symbol: PyUnicodeUCS4_DecodeUTF

I need to find some way to restore python to its original state! Can anyone advise?
I've already tried to use the rpm's on the fc4 cd's, but its not restoring it to its original state but rather adding to the current /usr/local/lib
