As many HP Pavilion zv6000 users have problems with ATI drivers I post my less than perfect solution that worked for me.
I am using 32-bit fedora 4 kernel 2.6.12-1.1398 on it and installed ati-fglrx version8.16.20 and kernel-module-fglrx-2.6.12-1.1398_FC4 with yum from livna and added Option "NoAccel" to disable hardware acceleration. Without hardware acceleration it's not suitable for gaming but I don't care about games. I anyway have screen with right 1280x800 resolution and if you take smooth scrolling off i's good enough for most programs.
