Python problems!!!

Hello,
I was trying to install Plone/Zope from source...so in order to build zope I needed Python 2.3.5. I got the rpm from the Python website... I installed "rpm- ivh python23-2.3.5-10.fc4.pyv.i386.rpm". Now, YUM is broken. It wants to use Python 2.3.5 instead of 2.4.1. YUM says something about no libraries for this version of Python 2.3.5. Also, when I type python at the terminal...2.3.5 is the default. How can I make 2.4.1 the default again? Also, when I tried to "rpm -e python23-2.3.5-10.fc4.pyv.i386.rpm" it says that that rpm isn't installed.

Please help!!

Nate

Welcome to the world of "dependency hell". As a rule of thumb never touch

- python
- openssl
- glibc

on a redhat/fedora system (unless you want to experience what uve just experienced) or are doing a "linux from scratch". Get your CD's and reinstall the "old versions."
