Since you are posting this on aFedora Linux forum I will assume you are looking for a video card for you Fedora System. I would only suggest using Nvidia based cards on linux. Although ATI has improved their support, it is still far from Nvidia's. I am running an ATI chipset and it was not very easy to get 3d working. Had to use Livna's newest kernel and make a few bios changes.

Go nVidia, depending on your budget:

~$150 - 6600GT
~$180 - 6800
~$200-300 - 6800GT
~$300-400 - 6800Ultra or 7800GT
~$400+ - 7800GTX or 6800Ultra (512mb version)

Get the following brands: nVidia, Leadtek, Asus, MSI, evga, XFX, BFG, or any other popular makers.

The 5500 is as low as $75. I would have purchased on the other day for my P4 but nowhere on the box was the voltage.
I need .8 pure 8x, vs. 1.5 and / or 4,8X.

And of couse no one in the store knew what I was talking about.

So which one of these cards is .8 volts and 8X only specs?

SJ

If you are going for nVidia, I suggest staying away from the FX 5 series, especially the 5500. The FX series have always been underpowered, and I suggest going for a 6600GT, best bang in the buck.
