Firefox: a security bug?

Hello, I'm using FC4, and sometimes something weird happens when I'm trying to login to my mail account using firefox: when I'm entering my password the little "Search in this page" bar appears (as if I had pressed ctrl+f), so my password is entered there, viewable to anyone. I wonder if it's some hacker trying to get my e-mail password or something (in this case, would I be infected with some trrojan?). As a side note, my system is isolated from any local network, I'm just using a dial up connection in my home and the same used to happen to me with FC3. I'm using firefox version 1.0.4.

If your password contains a "/" then this is a field focus issue. "/" is another hotkey to open the search toolbar. Make sure the cursor is located inside the password field before typing.
If your password contains a "."(period) then maybe you are hitting "/" by mistake.
