Leaving Fedora for User Friendly Debian...

lol, If you read the title, you must be wondering what I was smoking when I wrote it.

Anyway, now that I've got your attention:

this is a poll of sorts...

What is your favorite distro, and what is the ONE feature that makes you like it so much

My Favorite Distro is Fedora, and it is due to the User frienly GUI Installer ANACONDA, that pushes me toward it

PS: To know how user friendly debian installer is, why not Download the Current debian release - only14 CDs + 15 CDs source !!!

Just ask yourself: what results will be there? I bet, Fedora will win with some 90% of votes. Not really surprising on a Fedora forum, eh?

For me it was a hard decision. Slackware, Mandriva and Fedora are close to each other imho as each has its own strenghts and weaknesses. I finally chose Fedora because it does 100% what I expect it to do.

Looks like Ubuntu took care of that with ONE cd! As I type I am testing it now and how found some minor issues that I am pretty sure it has a solution Iike that one I found for the mplayerplug-in.

Overall is great and I'm pretty sure the next version will be hard to beat by any distro.

BTW, it has taken me about 6 hours of configuration for ubuntu.

Fedora is my favorite distro. I'd have to say my most favorite thing about Fedora is fedora-rpmdevtools. I gotta have my fedora-rpmdevtools It's nice to be able to make your own packages.

I disagree. Ubuntu is not compatible with Debian any more. Mixing them will result in disaster. The fastest way for getting Debian with only one CD is Kanotix. But it is not as good as a self-built Debian system

What I meant that it only takes one cd for installation! I know is not compatible with debian but it is debian base just like mempis.

But it is NOT Debian. Just like Mandriva is not RedHat anymore.

Surprising results so far: fedora 100%, the rest: well euuhh

But seriously, I like fedora because it has much software already included and (I know, only 1 reason) it is user friendly.

I think what makes ubuntu so popular is the candy looks and the ubuntu guide which is VERY good.

I think what makes Ubuntu so popular is that it is new. Remember the Gentoo hype some years ago?

Why on earth did I pick the 10 distros I've head of most often and type em if everyone is going to vote Fedora (as of 2005-08-22 4:30 GMT)

Where are all these people who keep complaining about fedora and talk abut how much they love ubuntu?

Do they always complain in other people's threads, or do I get some of the fun as well
