Kernel source code for fc3(fc4 too I'd imagine)

ok, I know how to extract the source from the kernel source rpm, but where do I get the src.rpm?!

I can go dl http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...-1.667.src.rpm, but I don't have 667 installed. Does that matter? Where to do I get the src.rpm for 681, 770 etc

grrrr, I'm frustrated..

You have to wait until the SRPMs are released..or use a vanilla kernel...

-661 is an old kernel, 2.6.9, current is 2.6.12 something. Are you saying that at somepoint, fedora will release a src.rpm for a 10 month old kernel release?

Can I use the src.rpm for 661 on a system with 681?

I can't believe that there's no kerenl source by default with fc3/4 and that the src.rpm's that we need to get kernel source.

Obtain the kernel-<version>.src.rpm file from one of the following sources:
*The SRPMS directory on the appropriate "SRPMS" CD iso image
*The FTP site where you got the kernel package
* By running the following command:
up2date --get-source kernel

1. doesn't exist
2. doesn't exist
3. gets the most current src.rpm

You get the updated kernel source from the updates repository.

ok, haha, by chance that actually works for me.

these are the only two in there (I happen to NEED .681)
[ ] kernel-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3.src.rpm
[ ] kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3.src.rpm

but what happens if I need it for say 2.6.10.1.770? where are the rest of them? OR, nobody seems to be able to tell me for sure, can I mix and match? Can I be running 770 and use the source for 681?

http://ftp.hosteurope.de/mirror/fedo...dates/3/SRPMS/

has many of the the elder, (as well as new) sources for FC3 .681, .760, .766, .770

took me hours and hours to find that... i wish all the old sources were kept accessable.... they sometimes come in handy

magiix, thanks for the link

That seems pretty sketchy to me btw, downloading kernel source from an unknown (at least to me) ftp site with no md5sum.. :/

This whole situation amazes me..

Oh, be nice if they'd fix the up2date bug too, it doesn't check gpg sigs in fc4...
