Linux doesn't recognize my modem!

Hello: I just installed Linux fedora core 1. Installation went ok. But I can't get online. I'm doing a dual boot with win xp pro and I have a us robotics 56k fax host int modem. I think I may have given the wrong information during the installation process (It tells me I have a gereric modem installed). Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hank

If it's an internal modem it's most likely a "winmodem", i.e. its function depends on proprietary software drivers and the manufacturer supplies only Windows drivers with the modem. There are Linux drivers for some such modems, see http://www.linmodems.org/

Thanks for the quick reply. I've gone to the http://www.linmodems.org/ site where I found info about the scan modem tool. I downloaded it and will try it out.
