How to install X/Gnome after minimal install?

I can get them "installed" actually using yum groupinstall, but I cannot seem to get it to configure itself and start. Clearly, it can automatically configure itself as it does this during the graphical install. I'm sure there's a command like "gnome-config" but I don't know what it is.

Thanks

Have you tried mounting the install disc and using rpm to install from it?

This is the xorg installation and configuration guide from Gentoo. You may find it helpful.

The command is "system-config-display".

This does not appear to work. Although it works if X/Gnome was installed by the installer, it does not work if they were installed afterwards.

[root@localhost ~]# system-config-display
xconf.py: Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :17.0.
--display=:1: Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :17.0.
[root@localhost ~]#

Okay I figured it out. As it turns out, Fedora's install did not create a link to /dev/mouse, and the default xorg.conf references this and it was bombing.

Thanks!!

If it says the connection was reset, switch to init 3 and restart the X server.
