Are you podcasting?

What podcasting client are you guys using in FC4?

Which client works best with Fedora?

I'm trying to install iPodder but get nothing. I followed all the available instructions and "how to"s but there is a bunch of dependencies I just can't find anywhere (I found files for others distributions but not to Fedora).

Hi Marcos

I'm using podget (http://sourceforge.net/projects/podget) and got it working using a combination of my limited know-how in conjunction with a "how-to" at http://bismanlug.org/article.php?sto...50415143040903.

My installation of podget is by no means perfectly configured, but I now have the serverlist file in the above-mentioned "how-to" in which to easily update my podcast sources and with a little bit of trial and error tinkering I was listening to podcasts on my inexpensive mp3 player very quickly.

There is no gui I know of accompanying podget, and I seem to have had better luck using it in conjunction with the sudo command (I had a few permission problems which I wasn't able to resolve with chmod - testimony to my limited know-how I think!). Running it as root issued in very few problems, but is perhaps a little inconvenient, and I've little doubt that the more savvy linux user would circumvent this problem without difficulty. I'm afraid my approach has been rather heuristic. The good news is that this program worked without any dependency problems at all with FC4.

Best of Luck!

Andrew

Thank you very much, Andrew. I'd followed your instructions and succesfully installed podget.
It was a nightmare trying to install iPodder in my FC4. I was almost changing my system to Ubuntu 'cause it's so easy to make it to get podcasts.
Now maybe I could stick with Fedora for a while, thanks to you.
