HP All in One Print/Scan Problems
I am so frustrated. Everytime I try to get my HP PSC 1350 installed, I have problems. I did a FC 4 everything install. Set up the printing function through KDE control center (hpijs) no problem. Then, scanning hpoj the ptal command, everything goes fine, kooka works, scanning.
Then printing is totally disabled. Is there a way to have both work at the same time?? HPLIP I tried to install it using the directions. Is my problem I should be removing hpijs and hpoj which come standard with an everything install???
Totally lost.

Afaid I can't give a detailed answer to your problem, just let you know that I have a HP PSC2510 networked all in one which works via HPOJ and HPIJS just fine, even over the network (in fact I have never connected it to the computer directly.

Knowing that really isn't helping myself or anybody else who may be reading this forum. If you really don't have any offer of help, your post helps nobody. Think about that for future posts please.

Actually, it confirms that the the printer works well having both work at the same time, using those drivers.
Stop acting like a dick and taking your frustrations out on others. Someone might actually become willing to help, which I am not.

Thank you very much Wolfgang. I have always installed hplip and did not uninstall hpijs, which is probably where I have problems. I will try your suggestions and post back. Thank you again for your help. I really appreciate it.
Marcos.

Hi Guys--
Well I uninstalled hpoj and hpijs which were installed (rpm's) as part of FC4 everything install. I then followed the hplip instructions to the letter. I configured the printer as discussed and it works. The bad news is when I run the hp toolbox command, I get this:
----------------------------------------------------------
[mkoljack@greyhounds ~]$ /usr/share/hplip/toolbox
toolbox
toolbox HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 0.9.4)
toolbox HP Device Manager ver. 5.0
toolbox
toolbox Copyright (c) 2003-5 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP
toolbox This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
toolbox This is free software, and you are welcome to distribute it
toolbox under certain conditions. See COPYING file for more details.
toolbox
toolbox Listening on localhost port 32778
toolbox [ERROR]: Unable to connect to HPLIP I/O. Please restart HPLIP and try again.
[mkoljack@greyhounds ~]$
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I disabled cups in SELinux. Any ideas?? kooka picks up no scanner so still unable to scan. Thanks for any help.

Hi Mark
I run under FC4 and have cups and cups-config daemon up and running.
Question: Did you install the printer with the printer configuration delivered with the disti or through the program you call with your webbrowser http://localhost:631?

When installing the printer, where you able to rpint a test page?
And did you instal libsane-hpaio.rpm ( http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linu...RPMS.tupdates/)? It does not come with hplip (at least under FC4).

Hi Wolfgang--I installed the printer using the configuration pgm through http://localhost:631 which was in the instructions. Printing great with no problems.
Scanning is a problem. I uninstalled the libsane-hpoj rpm which was included with my FC4 everything install. I installed the sane-hpaio rpm you gave me and kooka still detects no scanner. Do I need to do something to initiate the sane-hpaio so that kooka can detect a scanner??
Thanks Wolfgang.

Could anyone help please, because it´s for a bureau box, where scanning is often needed. Right now they have to reboot into windoze, to be able to scan. That´s a pity. Much more, because other seem to have no problem at all with scanning ...
Please help!
