Text console does not work

I installed FC4 a while ago and have been using it mostly without problems. There is one nagging problem though: When I try to switch to a text console with ctrl-alt-1...6 it switches nicely to a empty screen. The text display works during startup before it switches to the graphical one. Where might I start to try to fix this?

And you're using ctrl-alt-F1-F6, right?

I have the same problem. When I want to switch to text console (via hotkeys CTRL+ALT+F1/F6) nothing happend.....

No text console showed ....

Is there any solution to correct this problem ?
