Angry can't boot FC4 !!!

hello

i have 4 images, of the aprox same size (612mb): FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc1, FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc2,FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc3 and FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc4

now when i mount them, the label of each iso is: FC_4 i386 ftp #6, FC_4 i386 ftp #7, FC_4 i386 ftp #8 and FC_4 i386 ftp #9

i made all the four cds, and the main content of each cd is the same:
--------------------------
Srpms (folder)
.discinfo
eula.txt
Gpl
Readme
Rpm-gpg-key
RPM-GPG-KEY-beta
RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora
RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-rawhide
RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-test
RPM-GPG-KEY-rawhide
Trans.tbl

my BIG BIG problem is that the 1st image just won't boot!!! wtf.. do i need redhat to install ofer it (upgrade) or a 3rd party floppy boot disK?

please please help

you need to download the regular discs not the srpms(source rpm)

[ ] FC4-i386-disc1.iso 06-Jun-2005 22:54 635M
[ ] FC4-i386-disc2.iso 06-Jun-2005 22:55 638M
[ ] FC4-i386-disc3.iso 06-Jun-2005 22:56 638M
[ ] FC4-i386-disc4.iso 06-Jun-2005 22:57 630M

srpm discs just arent bootable

you can just download the first disc and do a FTP install

http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25826

Code:
method=ftp://<path> Use <path> for an FTP installation

i kinda hintched that since i also had 4 redhat images dated from 2002. can i install the fc4 srpm's without dwling the full installable iso's? what's fc4 compatible with? how do i install it?

i can see a FC4-i386-rescuecd.iso image.. i wonder if i could use that and the four non-setup srpms. does fc4 require another redhat? i'm boiling to see the resemblance

You should get the x86_64 iso images. There are 5 of them. It would be a shame to run 32-bit on an Athlon 64.

You don't need the recue iso. If you've used red hat it should be plain sailing. You should be booting your new system within 45 mins.

Sorry zmin, that was slack of me. Somehow the wtg_photos post above yours stood out.

I recently did an FC4 update on a 32bit system with redhat 9 installed. Can't say whether it will work with earlier releases.

1 Boot from FC4 CD1
2 Select "Update" instead of "New Install", and you're on your way.

Good luck.

Chris
