Super Slow Apache (watch pics load)

Note how slow my images are loading from my Apache server...
This may not be Apache's fault but I never had this issue with any other distro running apache and I just swapped to FC4 so I thought I would ask...
All my images come up super slow. I am hosting some average sized .JPG's and they are just acting like I am hosting 1280x1024 size.
I am on a cable connection that is 5mb down and 300kb up but am not sure how I am able to increase or speed up my slow loading images.

The 300k up is your limit. I get those in about 7 sec at almost 270 kb/s. That's good. It won't get much faster without more upload bandwidth.

I must have hit a good time when the upload was unused. I still get 170 kbits/sec.

Took me to a count of 14secs to see that first image.

I've noticed the speed issue too though - even on localhost, Apache2 seems slow (on a 512Mb P4 2.8) but only recently, like maybe an Apache yum update has broken something....?

I'm no expert on apache, but try this:

open up firefox on the server and type in 127.0.0.1/<wherever the images are>

This will tell you how fast it is loading without interference from your ISP, and from there you can more accurately diagnose the problem
