Need Help Getting D-Link DWL-650+ Working
Well, I have a laptop with Fedora Core 1 running on it. I'm using the old one cuz I have a book on it so I can learn about everything. Eventually I'll dl 4. Anyways, I need to connect to the internet. It can't recognize my wireless card in the network setting thing. I ran /sbin/lspci and I think this is what I'm supposed to be looking for.
CardBus bridge: Texas Instuments PCI1410 PC card Cardbus controller (rev 01)
Network controller: Texas Instruments ACX 100 22Mbps wireless interface
Can someone help me get the proper drivers and how to install them. I just started using Fedora Core yesterday, so I need some babying! Thanks Alot!

Would Fedora Core 4 natively support this chip to save me all the trouble. If it does, I'll finish this book and then install Fedora Core 4. Would my laptop be able to run it? It is AMD Athlon 900mhz, 20 gb hard drive, 256 ram and a crappy 16mb video card.

You can use the Linuxant driver
http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/install.php
They appear to have worked out a deal with TI so you can use their driver for free
http://www.linuxant.com/company/press_dldrti.php
I have the same Dlink 650+ and it works fine with this driver in FC3. Have not tried FC4 yet.

Well, I'm so close with this driver I downloaded earlier. It came with an installation guide. I moved the driver to the net drivers part of the kernel as it said. I also put a file named ifcfg-wlan0 in network-scripts. Now when i load the driver using insmod and then type route, under Use Iface, the guide says it is supposed to say wlan0. But for me, it says 0 lo. Can someone help me?
In the wlan0 file, I have
DEVICE=
IPADDR
NETMASK=
NETWORK=
BROADCAST=
ONBOOT=
I assume IPADDR is the default IP, so I would put 192.168.0.1? I know NETMASK is 255.255.255.0
What do I put for Network, and broadcast? Thanks alot!

IPADDR is the IP address you want if you want a static IP. I would take this line out if you want DHCP and add a line BOOTPROTO=dhcp. So, static would be IPADDR=192.168.0.101 (or whatever), BOOTPROTO=none. DHCP would be omit IPADDR, BOOTPROTO=dhcp. Either should work well.
DEVICE should be wlan0, ONBOOT should probably be no. It is very difficult to get a laptop wireless card to start on boot. You can add a line here USERCTL=yes and that will allow you, as a user, to do /sbin/ifup wlan0 when you first boot. Amazingly, mine starts simply when I push it in at login!
I would also suggest adding TYPE=wireless, PEERDNS=yes and MODE=Managed. Not sure you even need NETWORK or BROADCAST. Try leaving them blank.

Alright, thanks! Now that I have that sorted, it still says 0 lo and Use Iface when it's supposed to say wlan0. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Alright, I installed FC 4. I'm going to use Linuant driver as it's free cuz of my TI card. Can someone give me some fairly detailed instructions as I'm very new to linux and desperately want my internet to be working. I have tried everything to no avail and it is getting very frustrating. Thanks you very much! Also, which do I download, i586 or i686. I have an AMD Duron 900 mhz cpu.

The 650+ is not supported, like the newer 650 'H' revisions. I have the original 650 and it works fine using native drivers (OrinocoCS).
Try ndiswrapper.
