Unhappy RPMdb not updated on RPm installation

I have noticed this more than once, most recently on installing the fc4 kernel source rpm.
The installation goes on successfully and Im able to find the sources under /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES

But when I do a
rpm -qa | grep kernel

I dont find it.
The same was observed on some other packages too.
Even if I do a rpm -qi fullrpm name It doesnt show, though the files are there.
I dont remember the other packages though....I think I had the same prob with
fc4 rpm dev tools rpm. Though all the scripts are installed and available.

Can some one explain.......

That's not installing, installing is done with a .rpm, not with a .src.rpm!
If you have a .src.rpm, do this:
Quote:
rpmbuild --rebuild name.src.rpm
rpm -Uvh name.rpm
