Hplip

Using FC4 I compiled and installed HPLIP without errors and I can print fine.

However, it says it can't mount the photocard, and I get the following error when I try to scan:

Failed to open device 'hpaio:/usb/PSC_1600_series?serial=MY51AD51J5L0':
Operation not supported.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Is the printer connected via USB or network?

How was the printer added, via the cups gui or system-config-printer?

Is hpaio in your /etc/sane.d/dll.conf file, and does /etc/init.d/hplip status show the two services running?

I had no luck with compiling hplip from source. It compiled and installed fine, but I got an error when trying to add the printer. I think something was conflicting with FC4s hpijs package. If you use yum to install hplip and libsane-hpaio from updates-testing you should be able to get everything going.

I ended up tinkering with fc4 too much and re-installed a fresh copy. This time I used hplip 0.9.4 from downloaded tarball and scanning works fine. However I still cannot access my sandisk camera cards.

I didn't know hplip was available in yum, thanks for the info.

Anyway thanks for the reply.
