two small flaws on my gnome desktop

I am running FC4 with the nvidia driver. everythins works ok, except those two small problems:

1. when I am trying to drag an icon on my desktop, (i.e. click on an icon, hold the left key and move it around), the left and right edges of the screen seem move a little bit. and a white line appears on the left edge of the screen.

2. when opening a terminal, there is a quick black splash on the terminal window. It's very very quick. my terminal background is white.

they are not that obvious, in fact, they are hardly noticeable if I don't pay attention to them. KDE doesn't have those problems.
