Just Boots to GRUB

New FC 4 install - The installation completes but the boot is just to a GRUB command screen. As I am not sure where the kernel is in the file system or what its exact name is I don't know how to do a load from here. Never had a Linux Distro just dump me into GRUB. Help?

is it a dual boot?
did you install fedora to /dev/hda or somewhere else
did anything weird happen during the install
did you sacrifice 3 floppy disks and a virgin CD-RW prior to installing fedora (everyone knows about that right?)

Nothing weird happened during the install - I installed to the default partion, etc. It is not a dual boot machine and of course I sacrificed a bunch of cd's prior to using the microsoft iso burner.

OK, I tried Linux rescue, chroot worked, but the shell does not recognize grun as a command or grun-install. So without running "Grun" when I exit the shell it reboots and takes me back to grub.

The same thing happened to me. I'm not an expert, but not exactly a newbie either. Luckily I had a few days off to play around. Because of problems I had trying to fix my original upgrade, then trying to figure out how to get past the grub prompt in a clean FC4 install (repeated attempts)....I reloaded FC3.

The good news is that I fully expect the resources available through this forum to get all the issues resolved.

Asus P4T533-C MB

ATI all-in-wonder
Maxtor ATA 60 gig
WD ATA 80 gig
Adaptec AHA 7850 SCSI scanner interface
Intel 82801 PCI
Intel P IV 1900

grun was a typo
it's supposed to be
grub-install

no space, if that doesn't work try

Code:
grub-install --recheck /dev/hda

if you have XP you can go to XP rescue mode and put fixmbr, then try again with grub-install hda.
