limewire and java

I have the latest limewire rpm. I have reinstalled it and java multiple times using all the possible techniques suggested in previous threads I have seen. When I click on limewire it won't run but if i run it in the terminal this is what I get.

[nac@localhost ~]$ limewire
Starting LimeWire...
Java exec found in PATH. Verifying...
Suitable java version found [java = 1.4.2]
Configuring environment...
Loading LimeWire:
Exception during runtime initialization
java.lang.NullPointerException
<<No stacktrace available>>

************************************************** ****************
Something went wrong with LimeWire.
Maybe you're using the wrong version of Java?
(LimeWire is tested against and works best with with Sun's JRE, Java 1.4+)
The version of Java in your PATH is:
java version "1.4.2"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.0.0 20050519 (Red Hat 4.0.0-8)

[nac@localhost ~]$

Anyone have any ideas as to my problem?

Please search the forums - this issue has been discussed quite a bit.

I'm in the same boat as nacchrist. I have searched the forum. I have tired several of the suggestions in here. It worked with FC3. I finally just gave up with FC4, and am watching the forums for new posts that might actually fix my problem. I have installed Java so that it passes the test. Limewire installs fine...it just wont open when I try to use it. Same situation he is in. Again, I have searched the forums and by reading his post, I think he has too. Would be great if someone had some more information on this.

DL this http://www9.limewire.com/beta/LimeWireLinux.rpm

Then in the terminal..
Code:
rpm -Uvh --nodeps ~/LimeWireLinux.rpm
where ~ is the directory location of the rpm.

You should see...
Code:
[root@localhost john]# rpm -Uvh --nodeps /home/john/LimeWireLinux.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
   1:LimeWire-free ########################################### [100%]
Then again in the Terminal...
Code:
limewire
Should get
Code:
[root@localhost john]# limewire
Starting LimeWire...
Java exec found in PATH. Verifying...
Suitable java version found [java = 1.5.0_04]
Configuring environment...
Loading LimeWire:
And it should open.
