I am running Fedora core 3 on two computers I keep them updated withup2date and synaptic. I recently downloaded and installed the newest kernel-2.6.11- 1.35_FC3. I did not remove the old kernel-2.6.11-1.27_FC3 right away just in case there was a problem with the new one. I noticed when booting the computer that there were failed messages during startup and shutdown, system mapper, port mapper,on startup and nfs during shutdown. I tried booting with the older kernel to see if it had the same problem. It would not boot and give me a kernel panic and a message "tried to kill init" or somthing like that, and sit there with the cursor blinking untill I hit the reset button. this problem seemed to start after I downloaded the latest update with up2date, selinux-policy-targeted-1.17.30-3.13. When I went back to the previous version1.17.30-3.9 the problem went away. is there a problem with this update?? I had the same problem with both computers. What is the purpose of selinux-policy-targeted ?
thanks in advance Terry
