Evo N1000V ATI Radeon Mobility 700 supported ?

I have a Compaq Evo N1000V

I can install Ubuntu without any problems.

When I try and install FC3 or FC4 the graphical display tiles over the screen - it takes up about 2 thirds of the screen and then repeats below and to the right.

Beforehand it says

Display type: ATI Radeon Mobility 700
Monitor tyep: Unknown Monitor

If I ignore the tiling, it hangs during the graphical install after I hit next at some point.

I am now doing a text install of FC4.

does anyone know if this PC or its display are supported ?

Is there a workround to make it usable ?

Thanks

Peter

Hm,

I suggest the following after text mode install:

- BEFORE Boot, hit "e" on the grub menu (to edit the kernel boot parameters)
- Remove "rhgb quiet" and replace it with "3" (to boot in runlevel 3)
- login as root
- type "cd /etc/X11"
- type "vi xorg.conf", then type "i"
- Find your display driver section, under driver it may say something like "driver=generic". If so, replace it with "driver=radeon" (Do the same if it says "radeon", so then replace it with "generic".

- Report back if it works

Thanks for your help - in fact I've now fixed it.
For the record here is what to do.

Install Fedora using text mode.
After the reboot, the graphics mode setup kicks in, this is still usable but is tiled as the resolution is 800X600
check the actual screen reolution by referring to manual and checking the product code on the underside of the PC.

Change the monitor type e.g. to "LCD Panel 1024x768"
Reboot as requested.
After the reboot, the graphics mode setup kicks in, this is still usable but is tiled as the resolution is 800X600
Now change Display the resolution e.g. to 1024x768
After completing the remaining setup screens, the screen will go black then the logon page appears.
At this stage the screen appears normal and the tiling affect has gone.
