GRUB problems

Hello. I am very new to Fedora. After installing it, it told me to reboot. Once I rebooted all it said was "GRUB" and it just stopped right there. This sucks because now I cant even Launch Windows, (Even though Windows doesnt work anyways). If it helps, GRUB was previously installed to the MBR by KNOPPIX. And I installed it again. x.x

Reinstall grub!
You could find how to do it on the forum! I already wrote it in other post! Here is the link where is written how to do it!
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...reinstall+grub
It's only one of 1000 links with solution for your problem.

well use the fedora cd
and at the boot prompt
type
linux rescue
enter
it will then search for any fedora installs on ur sytem, allow it to mount it
it will then drop u into a shell, it will also print something about remounting
perform that remount
then run
grub-install /dev/hda

Next time use search!
P.S. In link which I provided to use written grub-install /dev/hda1/2/3 - DO NOT DO IT!
DO grub-install /dev/hda as I wrote above!
P.P.S. Probably this link would be useful! http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...highlight=grub

Yeah.. I did it slightly different because the Installation discs are tucked away somewhere. I ran the rescue CD and did that, went through all that stuff, scanned, and then I typed in "grub-install /dev/hda" And it said "/sbin/grub: file not found" While on KNOPPIX i navigated to "/mnt/hda3/sbin" to find that "grub" does infact exist. Could it be that instead of typing "grub-install /dev/hda" that I should type "grub-install /dev/hda3/?" Or should I use the Fedora Installer CD rather than the boot CD? Ohh and it didnt say anything about remounting.......

AAAArrhhh......I gave you a link in P.P.S. Is it difficault to read it first?
boot from your linux cd with parameter "linux rescue", then just mount partitions for maintenance.
Now you have linux wihtout X running and your / partition is mounted to /mnt/sysimage. Then you can make a "chroot /mnt/sysimage" and then check the grub config. Then run "grub-install /dev/hda" (if it should beinstalled to MBR).
Should work.

So, 3(!) commands! I hope this time it would be ok.

Umm. No. I put in the Fedora Disc 1, type linux rescue, chroot /mnt/sysimage, grub-install /dev/hda. And it just paused there. Did nothing except show me a little white line for a 3 or 4 minutes, I couldnt break the operation or anything. Just that line.

Hmm, as of typing this, I'm installing GRUB from KNOPPIX. I navigated to /mnt/hda3, opened a terminal, and typed grub-install /dev/hda and it seems to be working. Gave me an error about being not permitted t access the /boot/ directory. But nothing a little "su" couldnt fix. lol.

Do you have virus protection enabled in BIOS? If so disable it. If no write here and we will try to run GRUB manually

So, I am going offline. If virus protection is off try to boot again from CD and
linux rescue
chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub-install /dev/hda
grub

Now you have grub terminal grub> ! Please be careful! And spell everything absolutelly correct!!!!! Otherwise you would have problems.
root (hd0,0)
setup (dh0)
quit

Hope everything will be ok.
