Problem refreshing folders

Sometimes, when I download a file with firefox, or create it with writer, it doesn't show up in the folder inside the gui (Gnome, right?). Is there any way to refresh the folder/desktop? If I logout and log back in, the files show up, but that's kind of annoying and takes some time. I'm using FC 3

Try in menu, View->reload, or Ctrl-R
