help mapping shortcut keys on mouse and keyboard

hello all,
im wondering how to map shortcut keys for my logitech keyboard and mouse.the keyboard has quicxk launch buttons that i wants to make launch linux apps.i know you have to figure out what that keys number is and add it to an X config file and then add the shortcut but im not really sure how to do that also i want to make my media button on my mouse launch an app.were do i start and how is this done thanxs.

This is a nice app for configuring the keys, but it doesn't work 100% wth the 2.6 kernel.

I know, with kernel 2.6 there where some changes, not every button got an identifier. I know the developer and he has told me that he is working on a solution, but it might take some time.

it give me a sxbindings error command not found or something like that

I tried it too and got the same error, but I didn't select a keyboard in the list (don't know the manufacturer of my keyboard yet, have to look it up). I will submit him a bug report, thanks for reporting it.

what bout manually doing it.i found my keys and added them to xmodmap,now how do i make shortcuts to them.?

I can only tell you how to do it in the kde. Right click the K -> open the menu editor -> click on the program you want to bind a key to, on the right side at the bottom there is an entry field for a key, click it and press the key you want to bind the program to.
