Grub crashed I get a command prompt

Grub doesn't work it seems to give me a command prompt other than a dual boot for fedroa 4 and win Xp I had it working but then I had to reinstall because I forgot the passwork and didn't know the command for resetting the root password. Could you help currently my system is down and I can't use it. I have know clue Phantom784 and i worked on this but it didn't work. We couldn't figure it out

It is like a dos prompt

grub/


I tried linux rescue with somthing like this (not exact)
chroot
install-grub /dev/hda

It didn't work

Is there anything that somebody could do for me My whole system is crashed and I can't even boot manelly into xp to try to repair this problem Any Suggestions?


I am running a
1.3 gh AMD Duron
512 meg SDDR ram
Dual boot Win XP (service pack2) and fedora core 4
80gb hd WINXP Primary Master
40gb hd FD4 Primary Slave
cdburner 32x Secondary Slave
50x reader on expander card (don't know the make)
spare 1.4 gb drive SEcondary Master
400 watt powersupply (if it helps)
Diamond sound card (On board card disabled)
Scsi Controllers (not needed for anything)
Network card (can't acces specifics until I get into windows)


If you can Help me I could use it. Until then My main server is down... This Computer runs a small network I really could use the help. Thanks

If anybody can help I would appreciate it... My main expertise is Windows so I don't know what to do... If anybody needs help with Windows I am here.

My solution for this problem is init rescue mode, enable the network card, and download rpmfind.net the grub FC3, and intall it, and run agaim grub-install /dev/hda. I do this.

The problem is that I don't have a connection to the internet though ethernet I have a wireless usb card
