    FC4 MACADDR problem

    Hi,

I have to override original MAC in my card. So simply I defined MACADDR in /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0.
    Undef FC3 it worked perfect.
    In FC4 it fails:

    [root@localhost network-scripts]# /sbin/service network restart
    Shutting down interface eth0: [ OK ]
Shutting down loopback interface: [ OK ]
Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth0: socket(PF_PACKET): Permission denied

Determining IP information for eth0... done.
    [ OK ]

I found that problem is one command in ifup-eth

    if [ -n "${MACADDR}" ]; then
    ip link set dev ${DEVICE} address ${MACADDR}
    fi

It is interesting that this command works ok when eth0 is down.

Any idea how to fix it?

suspect selinux. Try disabling enforcement of selinux rules.

seems to fix almost everything anymore.

Would it be easy for you to paste here the script you use to change mac address? Thanks in advance.

He describes that in his initial post. Read the first line.
