Just for your info ... Konqueror (as file browser) and, better yet, Krusader can be a very decent ftp client. For both of them, you may simply enter ftp://... (for regular ftp) or sftp://... (for secure ftp, i.e., ssh/sftp). For Konqueror, you can "split view left/right" and at one side put the ftp/sftp connection. Then, I can drag and drop between two panels.

Just for your reference, http://www.gnomefiles.org/subcategory.php?sub_cat_id=44 lists a number of FTP clients for Linux. Among them, I personally find CrossFTP client is the best one based on the functionality and reliability.
