Creative Audigy 2 NX Sound Card

I've been using Fedora Core 3 for 6 months or so and I love it. I've also been working with Suse 9.3, which is also great.

I was unable to configure any sound with the subject sound card. After working on it in spare time in the forums, a Chicago area high school student helped me to get it configured.

I have upgraded all ALSA packages to the new 1.0.9 release and suddenly the sound has gone from good to brilliant. The only visible difference I see is now when I log into Fedora 3, the dolby digital light is now on. I read the ALSA change log for this card and as expected, there are a ton of changes.

Has anyone had this same experience? Also, has anyone figured out how to get the remote to work with the card in Fedora 3 or Linux?? This would be so cool!

Thanks.

Could you tell us how you got it working - or point us to a relevant link!

I suggest you read all the pages of this link before doing anything:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...5&pagenumber=1

I found the following .asoundrc file to work the best instead of the .asoundrc files discussed in the thread:

pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "dmixer"
}

pcm.dmixer {
type dmix
ipc_key 1024
slave {
pcm "hw:0,0"
period_time 0
period_size 1024
buffer_size 4096
rate 48000
}
bindings {
0 0
1 1
}
}

ctl.dmixer {
type hw
card 0
}

---------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck and post back with any problems.
