So I installed FC4 test3, and restart. First of all, Grub comes up and doesn't have a menu... I have an Athlon 64 3800+ cpu w/ a Asus A8V motherboard. I'm running a Promise Ultra ATA100 PCI card for my extra two HDD's. My layout:
hda: 60gb hdd (windows)
hdb: 160gb data drive
hdc: cd burner
hdd: dvd burner
hde: 180GB drive w/ 3 partitions (hde1 == linux, hde3 == swap, hde2 == data drive (ntfs))
hdf: 160GB data drive
Grub is installed in the MBR, and at start up... has my hard drives mixed up... it's seeing the promise stuff as (hde, hdf) as hd0 and hd1. This happens only when it tries to load the menu, so instead of telling it to look for the menu on (hd2,0) I have it looking for it on (hd0,0) and it loads the menu fine... wtf? But when I try to boot FC4 using hd0,0, that doesn't work... because once the menu is loaded, it sees the drives in the correct order (60gb hda being hd0, and on from there....) WTF? So I can boot windows from hd0,0 just fine, but my big problem is... I try to boot Linux from hd2,0, and I get a "Unexpected or unsupported file format" or something similar... and it fails to load the linux kernel. Again, wtf? I installed the x86_64 version of FC4 test3.
Any help would be appreciated...
