New to All This Linux Stuff
First let me say hello. Glad to be here.
I was reffered to Linux by my curiosity. I wanted to see what it was. I heard that it was good for design (I'm getting into Graphics Design and Modeling). I have searched and read a few guides but I didn't understand any of them. Is there a noob/begginners guide to installing this? Also step-by-step, how do I check the MD5 checksums

Please look through the articles at www.fedoranews.org
Specifically under Articles by Contributors you will find;
http://www.fedoranews.org/contributo...nley/fc3_note/
Click on the search button at top and search for md5 checksums. You will find that question along with answers many times.

md5sum check instructions are on the download site and at linuxiso
Grab the MD5SUM file too and you can do them all at once.

You only require the first two CD's for personal desktop. The last one is a rescue CD. Good luck.
If you do have doubts feel free to ask

I checked the first CD and I can open it in Windows, but I just can't get it to boot during boot. The more I look into this the harder Linux looks to use <_< . Is there an easier Linux for someone who has no idea what they are doing :/

Use an md5sum check utility to verify that your downloaded ISO image is good
http://linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/verifyiso.html
Burn it in a relatively slower speed for more safety.
Also check if you have enabled the boot from CD option in your system BIOS. If you have done that, the installer would boot from the first CD and its pretty easy from that part
RHEL 4 guide applies for Fedora Core 3 pretty much
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/e...install-guide/

I used the md5sum check utility ad everything came out green (ok). I don't know what you mean by the boot from CD option (how would I do that?). I have the CD drive boot first but I don't know how t o "Boot from CD".

If you have the CD drive boot first it in BIOS, you have checked your md5sum and your burning process went fine, you should be able to boot from the CD. I dont see any reason why that wouldnt work. On a brighter note, the next version of Fedora (FC4) is scheduled to be released in a few days. Maybe you will have better luck with that

Also on a side note, My mother board is a foxxcon somthing or another with a VIA KT chipset. For some reason it will only boot from the CD rom only if I do the following:
1. Change the boot device order to
1st. CD-rom
2nd. CD-rom
3rd. CD-rom
note: if any of the boot devices are not CD-rom, it will boot to the HD.
2. Make sure you press f10 to save the changes.
3. Even if it worked the last boot, I must go into the BIOS (press DEL on startup) and press f10. Don't ask me why my motherboard requires this, my guess is I need to update the BIOS to fix the problem.
try doing it this way and see if it helps. I know it sounds weird, but like me you may have a flaky BIOS.
