Question HP ze4325us laptop radeon driver

I installed Fedora Core 3 on my Laptop using text mode, as the installer did not recognize my display. I got the same blank screen during the booting of Core 3.

I used the RescueCD to get to the Fedora Core 3 files. I switched the video card to VESA and X does work. After booting I tried the Radeon IGP320 again and same blank screen.
Is there a workaround or fix for this driver? Is there a setting that works? This has long been an annoyance for me, as 3D doesn't work with VESA.

HP ze4325us
AMD 32bit 1.66 GHz
512 MB ( 448 MB w/64 Display)
Radeon IGP320
Dual Boot with Windows XP

Thanks for your attention,
deke

I have an hp4315 that uses the radeon driver. The issues relate to a patch being incorrectly applied to the driver using xorg-x11 for the radeon driver.

I am running the current development version and it seems to not have issues as the FC3 version had.

You can get the more working version in the development repositories. The version that I am running is xorg-x11-6.8.2-31. You can run the vesa driver until FC4 is released or install the packages from the development tree.

FC4 should come out in June at current schedule.

Another workaround is to add the option noaccel to the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as sampled below.

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "radeon"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "ATI Radeon Mobility U1"
Option "NoAccel"

This will work but accelleration is noticably lacking on the display when scrolling documents.
